Brenton graduated from the University Of South Australia in 1986 and is an exploration geologist with over 32 years’ experience in the Australian mineral resources industry. He has held exploration management roles on a range of gold, nickel-cobalt, petroleum, phosphate, potash brine and coking coal projects. He has specialised in all stages of regional and near-mine exploration management including environment and heritage.

Brenton has led exploration teams with West Australian gold discovery success at Mount Pleasant (Racetrack/Golden Funnel), Menzies (Lady Irene), Dingo Range (Boundary), Lake Wells (Axford), nickel-cobalt resource upgrades at Ravensthorpe and Goongarrie and coking coal resource upgrades (Moura, Qld).

Brenton has worked in leadership roles for Australian and international companies including Newcrest Mining Ltd., Inco Australia, Burmine Ltd, Central Norseman Gold Corporation and VALE. Prior to joining Golden State Mining, Brenton was the founding Director of Goldphyre Resources Limited (now fertiliser hopeful Australian Potash) and responsible for the discovery of Lake Wells gold prospects and potash brine resources.

Brenton is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) and Society of Economic Geologists (SEG).
